Recent worldwide events have lowered the threshold to challenge freight transport corridors based on stable conditions. Examining various scenarios and their impacts helps to prepare for possible disturbance in the Baltic Sea.
This work has considered international freight transport through northern connections and the ability of these connections to respond to changing situations. What if Finland were without a maritime connection is the main question in this report.
The study has been conducted as part of the Lapland Chamber of Commerce’s ERDF-funded ”Growth from Smart Specialization” project. The project aims to highlight the state of international business in Lapland and opportunities for growth, as well as to bring to light important networks concerning international business.
